New course for Chemistry Undergraduates: MChem Hons (with Industrial Placement)

The Chemistry Department have a new degree open to first year students, current applicants, and future applicants.

This course runs over four years, with the first three following the current MChem structure, and the fourth year incorporating a placement at an industrial partner alongside reflective and taught modules (accessed remotely). After three years of study and practical work, students will have experience in all areas of chemistry, will be able to take on any practical role offered by industrial partners, and will be very competitive in the placement application process. Students also enrol in employability and reflective practice modules during the first three years of the degree and are supported in finding an industrial partner to host them for their placement.* The Department also supports the students through the placement to ensure that both students and industrial partners have a successful experience.

The industrial placement will give the students the opportunity to experience real chemistry research in the industrial setting, boosting their employability when they graduate after their placement year.

Find out more by visiting the , or email our Industrial Placement Officer, Dr Maria Paz Munoz-Herranz.

*Please note that the Department cannot guarantee that every student enrolled on this course will be able to secure a placement.
